AIP Director visits Luxury Property Expo in Shanghai
Derek Muhs and Show’s director, Olivier de Tréglodé
Derek Muhs, one of the directors of AIP Group, recently attended the China Luxury
Investment Property Show (CLIPS), held September 7-9 2007 at the Shanghai International Convention Center. There he met with the successful show’s director, Olivier Treglode.
As the number of wealthy citizens of China steadily increases, so does the demand for luxury properties both within China and abroad. Featured exhibits included projects from the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Portugal, Spain, South Africa, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand and China. Buyers had a rich selection of products to peruse, from penthouse condos to castles, from vineyards to private islands.
Of the experience there, Derek relates “Although we are here to meet with specific Chinese investors, it has been very interesting to see this exploding Chinese market first hand. For years people have been coming to China to buy Chinese products. Now Chinese investors want to buy ours. We are very excited to work with our Chinese partners and investors as they look to expand their property portfolios into Spain, the Canary Islands and Cape Verde.
“I must say that we have been to many expos all over the world, however this event being invitation-only was unique. To have a select group of serious investors, who understand the opportunities that the present global real estate market creates for cash buyers, causes a real excitement.
“We will definitely be back next year, not just for business, but I am getting better with my chopsticks, so any excuse to practice…”
